Grip Seal Bags for Jewellery and Beads: Sizes and Packing Tips
Whether you make jewellery, sell beads or supply findings, small clear grip seal bags are a practical way to pack, store and display your stock. This guide covers which sizes suit which items, how to protect your pieces, and tips for selling.
Which size for which item?
| Item | Suggested size |
|---|---|
| Single beads and tiny components | 20 x 20mm or 25 x 25mm |
| Small charms, clasps and findings | 25 x 25mm or 30 x 30mm |
| Stud earrings | 40 x 40mm |
| Earrings on cards, rings | 45 x 45mm to 50 x 50mm |
| Pendants and small bracelets | 60 x 90mm or 70 x 105mm |
| Chains, necklaces and larger pieces | 80 x 120mm or 100 x 100mm |
| Bead strands and cord | 100 x 100mm to 150 x 150mm |
These are suggestions, so always check against your own items. Measure width and height and choose a bag slightly larger. Our guide to choosing a size by item and size chart in inches can help.
Packing tips for makers and sellers
- Bag each piece or set separately, so items do not tangle or rattle against each other.
- Put a card or label inside the bag with the product name or code.
- Do not overfill the bag, so the seal closes fully.
- Clear bags let customers see exactly what they are buying.
- Pack chains and necklaces flat or loosely coiled to reduce tangles.
Storing beads and findings
Sort beads by size, colour and type, and put each group in its own bag with a label. Keep the bags in a divided box or tray so you can find what you need quickly. Smaller bags inside a larger one is a good way to keep sets together.
Protecting silver and plated jewellery
Grip seal bags keep dust off, but they are not anti-tarnish bags. Silver and some plated finishes tarnish over time when exposed to air and moisture. Make sure pieces are clean and completely dry before bagging, and consider adding an anti-tarnish strip or tab to the bag for longer storage.
Selling bead packs and findings
- Weigh or count each pack for consistency
- Add a printed label with the size, colour and quantity
- Use the smallest bag that holds the pack comfortably, which looks better and is cheaper
- Include a small card with the shop name and contact details
Shipping jewellery safely
Bag the piece, then wrap it or put it in a small box inside a padded mailer. See our guide on how to pack small items for posting.
